Experimenting on E. B. Lewis’s paper

I had the pleasure of meeting and learning from E. B Lewis at the Advanced Illustrator Workshop at the Highlights Foundation.  E. B uses a toothy 300 lb. cold press watercolor paper to create his illustrations.  I have never been a fan of toothy paper and have always used a hot press but after watching him work, I thought I would give it a whirl and see what happens.   E. B. was kind enough to send me home with some of his paper.  I need to create more cacti for my succulent series so I’m taking this opportunity to create another painting.
