Coloring using the computer is just like painting!

I am new to the graphic style. I’m also new to using the computer to color images. I thought it would be quick, fast, speedy, swift, rapid, and immediate. What I found out was, it takes about the same amount of time for me to color with my Wacom tablet, as it does for me to paint with a brush.

Maybe I’m just slow. It’s very possible. But, on the computer, I layered like I do with paint. On the computer and thinned opacities like with paint. All of it takes time and care. To those who say working with the computer is cheating or that it lacks the human touch need to try it. Yes you can erase, (Thank goodness) but human strokes are there. Shading done by hand is there. It’s amazing how human it actually is. I’ve always liked computer-generated art. There is a crispness to it that is appealing. But now that I’ve applied it to my inked art, I’m more impressed with it then ever.

Below are three panels I illustrated using an inked illustration and colored digitally. I’m still learning. There is so much to learn. This is me just scratching the surface.
